Emma: Week 21

Highlights:
* size 2 diapers. Size 3, 3-6, and 6 month clothes.
* no weight the check this week.
* little one is almost sitting up on her own. Emma likes to dive forward but she can catch herself, most of the time.
* big news: Emma is starting to eat cereal. She was feeding every 1.5 hours so we decided it might be about time. We wanted to wait until she was six months but Emma wanted to start a little earlier.
* thunderstorm knocked down one of our cherry trees so July 4th was spent doing yard work! Greg wanted to act like George Washington by cutting the cherry tree into smaller pieces.
* likes to look at books; we need to find more books that Emma can't destroy.
* rolled over a few times this week, mostly back to tummy.
* our a/c units broke two different times this week, it can hardly keep up with the heat! We had the repairman visit last weekend for the upstairs unit, then the downstairs unit decided to break this weekend. Greg's going to try and repair it himself.
* iPad was purchased this week. We have found one app for Emma that she really enjoys. It's a slideshow of pictures that teaches her the names and sounds of each picture. We can lock the slideshow so that she can touch the screen without interrupting the pictures. I need to look for more apps for Emma. Any suggestions?

**Look for separate posts for July 4th and 1st attempt at cereal.**

Emma: Week 20

Highlights:

- size 2 diapers. Size 3, 3-6, and 6 month clothes
- weighs 13lbs 2oz. Slow growth.- still enjoys the pacifier, thumb and big toe for soothing.
- teething has been bothering Emma so she likes to enjoy on her teeters, Sophie being her favorite.
- can move in a circle. I've noticed the movement while checking on her during the night. Emma also does this while playing. She basically lifts her butt up, turns to the side, then plops her legs back on the ground, moving her each time.
- watching the Olympic trials this week, mostly swimming.
- trying to work on Naps this week; sometimes, Emma can be stubborn about it! One day, nap time consisted of playing with toes, eating toes, sucking pacifier and twisting around to play with crib bars.
- I finished making a second dress this week; it turned out cute!

- sometimes, Emma will sleep on her side. It won't be long until she's rolling across the floor.
- visit from Aunt Stacy, MiMi, and Grandaddy this weekend. We went to the mall to escape the 100+ heat. Emma had fun playing!

Emma: Week 19

Emma's Highlights:

* Size 2 diapers, 3, 3 - 6 and some 6 month clothes
* Her hair is growing like crazy! Emma needs bows to pull the hair out of her blue eyes. (And there is curl to her hair too just like Mom & Dad!)
* Full of smiles and giggles. Only cranky if tired or hungry.
* Feeding on-demand, every 2 - 2.5 hours but still sleeps through the night.
* If Emma does wake up during the night, I just put the pacifier back in her mouth, she can wait a few hours to eat!
* A few nights this week, she has fallen asleep at 7:30PM and sleeping until 6 - 6:30 AM. This is a little early to get up but I can't complain.
* Still gets a bath twice a week. Emma enjoys bath time, as long as she isn't too tired.
* One of  my favorite things that Emma does: if she is sitting in your lap, with her back up against your stomach, she will look up at you every once in awhile and give you a goofy grin!
* I practice "Mama" and "Dada" daily; this is funny to Emma.
* Emma's toes are her favorite toys this week.
* No rolling over this week.
* Emma likes to play with our phones; she's going to learn to swipe early and will get her first iPhone in Kindergarten (just kidding)
* Likes to sleep with her hands behind her head.

Emma: Week 18

Loved Emma's smile but wished she had put her finger down! ;)
Emma's Highlights:

* Wears 3 months, 3 - 6 months and some 6 month clothes. Size 2 diapers.
* Went to the Mommy Group: Emma broke the 13lb barrier; huge jump from last week!
* Good visit with the doctor for her bi-monthly check-up
* Finished my second attempt at making a dress for Emma; the first one was too small and couldn't fit over her head. This second one fits, although it is a little short. We will use it as a shirt!
* Sleeping much better this week; Greg and I were right, Emma's teething and she doesn't like it!
 (Emma has done so well with sleeping for the past several months that we didn't like Emma reverting back to newborn sleeping patterns. Thank goodness it's over!)
* We celebrated Greg's first father's day; he received a Dr. Seuss book, seasoning and gift card to Home Depot.
* Emma hasn't rolled over anymore; she enjoys tummy time too much.
* She can wiggle herself to get the toy that she wants to put in her mouth.
* Rubs her feet/toes together; this is a bad habit that we are trying to break since she likes to rub her feet until they red.
* Very good with her fine motor skills and easily picks up items and either plays with them or brings to her mouth.
* Can bring hands together, not to clap but to wring them.

4 Month Well Check Up

Emma was a little sleepy at her appointment this morning. here are her stats: 24 inches long (50 %), weights 13 lbs 1 oz (50 %) and head circumference is: 39 1/2 cm (25 %). She had 3 shots and 1 oral vaccinations. Also, the NP thinks that Emma is fighting sleep in her crib due to teething. It will last as long as the tooth is bothering her ... let's hope this is a very short stage. Greg and I see the tooth coming in on the bottom. Emma will return at her 6 month check up.

The NP did say that we could start Emma on foods but we are going to wait until she's 6 months.

Emma: Week 17

Highlights:

* Size 3, 3 - 6 and 6 month clothes. Size 2 diapers.
* Went to Mommy group. Emma weighs 12 lbs 10 oz.
* Fought sleep a few times this week, during naptime and bedtime. She finally succumbed to sleep after several trips to put the pacifier back in. Sorry Emma, you aren't sleeping in Mom & Dad's room!
* Enjoys playing and being entertained.
* Rolls to the side very well, favoring the left side.
* Likes to get up at 6:30am and start playing after eating ... this is a bit early for Mama!
* Lots of smiles, coos and squeals.
* Knows how to take out the pacifier but hasn't figured out how to put it back in.
* Likes to sing in the car while playing with her crinkle square.
* Started to cuddle with her bear when she's sleepy.
* Fun time with Mimi and Granddad; we enjoyed the spontaneous visit!
* Emma's 4 month check-up is next week; I'm excited to get her official measurements!
