12 Months Old

Emma: Week 52 (2)

 * Size 3 diapers. Size 12 month clothes.
* Going through the alphabet books seems to be really helping Emma with knowledge of body parts and language. She knows where her foot is this week and lifts her foot up when prompted.
* Walking around a lot more; I've noticed that she's walking more & more to get to a certain object. It's still faster to crawl but Emma is toddling around.
* Likes to say "up" and "pup" with emphasis on the "puh" sound.
* Emma is still pointing at everything and tries to repeat words that I tell her.
*Loves dips: ketchup, ranch, syrup is just a sample that she has tried.
* Emma had to go to the podiatrist with me; she did not like when Mama had to leave the room for x-rays and she was left with a nurse. Everyone in the office heard her screaming for her Mama.
* "Dada" has long been a favorite word of Emma's; I am happy to report that "Mama" is making up for lost time. 

Emma: Week 52

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 month clothes.
* Emma practices walking each night between Mama and Dada.
* She is now taking a few steps walking between furniture or when she's really distracted.
* We took advantage of a beautiful day by going to the park, and Dada was able to meet us!
* Emma and Mama took a tumble down a few steps this morning. Emma is her normal, cute self. Mama has a bruised toe and possibly a sprained ankle. I guess running will have to stop for a few days.
* LOVES blueberries and fish (tilapia).

Emma: Week 51

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 month clothes.
* Introduced crayons and coloring this week; Emma's not quite into it yet; she doesn't know how to bear down on the crayon.
* Likes to play with blinds.
* Introduced more finger foods: string cheese, macaroni, non-pureed string beans and peas, corn and ground beef. Emma did not enjoy sweet potatoes and squash, even though I added brown sugar and cinnamon.
* Has a new playmate that lives in our neighborhood. E is just one month younger than Emma; her mom and I are looking forward to many future play dates because she is also a SAHM!
* Taking a daily bath due to finger foods being messy.

Emma: Week 50

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 month clothes.
* Trying to introduce more finger foods; it is very messy and hasn't gone too well. Emma's being a picky eater. Loving the spaghetti and lasagna baby food, though.
*Crawling, crawling, crawling.
* sticking her tongue out.
* Has taken a few steps between Greg and myself but hasn't done much more than that. She still uses her push toys.
* Loves to open up bathroom cabinets and pull out everything, especially q-tips.
* Likes to unravel toilet paper and use the toilet as a drum. 

11 Months Old

Emma: Week 49

 * Size 3 diapers. Size 12 month clothes.
* 11 Months this week.
* sticks her tongue out when prompted.
* Can walk with one hand using walker.
* Likes to unravel toilet paper from the roll and drums on the toilet seat.
* Sticks her face in the bathwater to drink.
* Fighting naps this week; takes her a little bit longer than normal to settle down and fall asleep.
* Greg went on overnight business travel. The first time I've been alone with Emma overnight. She woke up screaming at 11:30; we snuggled for a minute and she fell back asleep.
* Likes to tumble. Puts her head on the ground, with legs straight and butt in air and wants us to make her somersault. We are going to sign her up for a gym class this spring/summer.
