16 Months

Fishy-face
All done

Emma: 1 year 17 weeks.

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4.5 - 5.5 shoes.
* Playing with stickers and coloring a bit more.
* Likes to supervise: supervised the A/C repairman while he was at the house and supervised the pinestraw being loaded onto the truck bed.
* Yes, Emma is still in her infant carseat and will stay in it for a little while longer, hopefully through the summer. She hasn't reached the weight or height limit and does pretty good in the car; might as well keep her in it as long as possible since it's the safest mode.
* Using the spoon like a champ; sometimes Emma gets frustrated & will try to use her fingers.
* Likes to lick the spoon clean.
* New movie: Cinderella.
* Some days it seems that Emma is really quiet & won't say too much. She is very independent and likes to "read" constantly.
* Enjoys helping Mama around the house, including: dusting, putting toys away, putting books back on the shelf, pushing the empty laundry basket back to the laundry room, and laying down in the middle of the room so that Mama has to go around her while vacuuming.

** I tell you that the life of a homeowner can be so frustrating sometimes! We just had our downstairs A/C unit break. Last year, it was the upstairs A/C and the heater broke when we were in the hospital. I am so grateful to be staying home with Emma but when can we catch a break with it!

Emma: 1 year 16 weeks.

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4 - 5 shoes.
* Likes to watch tv on top of the ottoman.
* Watches Tangled while I'm making dinner.
* Fell asleep during lunch again; this time, she was holding an oreo.
* Enjoys playing with/eating ice.
* Bought a water table this week; Emma loves it!
* A wounded soldier was driving through Monroe, on the way home. Emma & I decided to go show our support and went to downtown Monroe. He was 1.5 hours late but it was well worth it. There were so many people waiting for him. I loved the fact that I could do this with Emma. An older lady bought Emma a flag because she was so cute. Poor Emma was so hot and wanted to run around but she did great!
* Going to enjoy a quiet weekend.
* Emma scratched her face while running around on a deck. Poor thing handled it well and only cried for a minute. Trauma over, except for the people who watched her and the collective gasp that followed the accident.
* Enjoys going through flashcards with pictures of animals on them; we are working on woof (dog) this week. Says apple pretty good, but doesn't say it often.

Emma: 1 year 15 weeks

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4 - 5 shoes.
* Busy week for Mama as she plants flowers and lays down pinestraw during Emma's naptime. This means that housework is on the back burner.
* Climbing on & off the couch
* Climbing from the "Emma chair" to the ottoman and scooting off the ottoman & repeat.
* Loves to be outside no matter what. Especially loves playing with her buckets and splashing around. Emma picks up worms and likes playing in the dirt.
* Very particular about where certain items should be: lining buckets up in a row, placing pillows on the floor.
* Went to Savannah during Memorial weekend. It was great! Emma had a blast at Oatland Island; she loves looking at the animals, especially the farm animals. Greg & I had a much needed date for our anniversary. We definitely need to get out more often; I think the last time we went out was for a football game. Emma was very wary of family but she did enjoy spending time with Mimi and Grandad.

Emma: 1 year 14 weeks

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4 - 5 shoes.
* Loves playing in the water, especially splashing around in her buckets. Emma also likes to play in the muddy clay that some people call dirt.
* Likes to play with Daddy's wallet, when she finds it. (smart girl!)
* We have been eating together as a family for awhile now, unless Greg gets home late from work. It's a nice routine. After dinner, Dada and Emma will head outside so that Mama can clean the kitchen without being disturbed by a toddler. At about 7, we head out for our daily exercise.
* Loves icecream and does not to share it with anyone.
* Prefers to drink out of straws.
* Playing with beads.
* More animal sounds: sheep, cow, chicken, cat, and snake. Also lets us know what a rabbit and worm does.
* Developed a dry cough/runny nose (a cold) this week and gave it to Mama. Our own daycare illness.
* LOVES oreos!

15 Months

Emma had her 15 Month Checkup. Had 2 vaccines today and did great; she quieted down before we left the room. Height: 30 inches. (50%) and Weight: 20 lbs 12 oz (15%). Not much of a growth spurt a few weeks ago. She checked out great with the NP and we'll go back for her 18 Month check up - no vaccines for this trip but she will be tested for anemia.

One year ago:

Emma: 1 year 13 weeks

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4 - 5 shoes.
* Still afraid to swing. Have no clue what the deal is since she used to love to swing.
* Loves to point out objects that I say in her alphabet book. Where's the butterfly?, for example.
* Pushes her car around.
* Mama got out the salad spinner and it is a fun toy.
* Fell asleep while eating lunch. (Right before naptime.)
* First artwork: supposed to be green feet prints for the leaves and pink handprints for the flower but Emma kicked and screamed during this project so we barely got the paint on the paper. Emma & Evie enjoyed splashing in the water buckets more so than painting.
* Emma ate 2 chicken nuggets for dinner this week. Hopefully, this is the start of eating more protein.
* Loves looking for/calling out birds & balls during our daily exercise in the stroller.
* Emma does her own tumbling, when facing downhill. So funny to see her stick her head down and tumble on her own.
* Meltdowns ensue when Daddy leaves for work, or when we have to leave Daddy after visiting his office.
