Emma: Week 27

Highlights:
* Size 2 diapers. Size 6 month clothes
* Weighs 15lbs 4 oz. 25 inches tall.
* Introduced green beans; Emma hated them! See picture to see her reactions.
* Played outside for a few days this week. The house provides shade with the late afternoon sun. Emma loved being outside.
* Introduced sippy cup; she has no idea what to do with it so far but we are trying! Emma does like to chew on it, though!
* No teeth poking through but still teething.
* Celebrated Emma's 1/2 birthday with a cake.
* Enjoys playing with the ball popper; Emma will put the ball back in the proper place so it can pop. She also likes to chew on the balls. She can press the button to make it start.
* Drama queen when she falls down from a sitting position. Emma's not hurt but she does want to make sure you are paying attention!
* Likes to take every single toy out of her toy basket.

6 Months Old!

Emma did great at her 6 month check-up. Weighs 15lbs 4 oz (40%); 25 inches tall (25%); and head circumference is 42cm (40%). She cried for maybe 30 seconds during her shots, but was tired and fell asleep soon after.

Emma: Week 26

Highlights:
* Size 2 diapers. Size 6 & 6 - 9 month clothes.
* Weighs 14lbs 13 oz
* At Mommy group, Emma interacted with a girl a few weeks older. This girl is already crawling and supported walking so she's ahead of the milestones. She crawled on over to Emma and almost shoved her down, on accident of course. Later on, they kept looking at each other and putting their arms behind each others backs, like a hug. It was cute!
* New solid food: applesauce. I ended up going to Trader Joe's to buy Emma some organic applesauce. (I read that homemade applesauce doesn't freeze that well so I was okay with purchasing.)
* Can lean against coffee table and activity table, as long as someone is close by in case of a fall.
(We purchased a new coffee table a few weeks back: it's two rectangular ottomans that are soft. I love it! They can be easily moved out of the way, adds more storage, adds additional seating, and Emma won't hurt herself since it's made of a soft material (no hard edges!).)
* On her activity table, Emma likes to close the laptop whenever it is opened. It is so cute and she could do this all day!
* Enjoys swinging in a bucket swing. Looks like a swing set is in our future sooner rather than later.

Emma: Week 25

* Size 2 diapers. Size 6 & 6 - 9 month clothes.
* Weighs 14lbs 8 oz; 12 oz gain in two weeks - the solids are working!
* Emma helped us vote this week, her second visit.
* Still bathes twice a week; we are thinking about changing this to every other day.
* New solid introduced this week: butternut squash. This is her favorite so far! We have mixed it with the sweet potatoes a few times and she enjoys it.
* Still sitting up great; she's a pro with the occasional fall. When Emma's on her tummy, she gets frustrated sometimes when she can't reach a toy. She can army crawl (crawl on belly) but not a great distance.
* Emma enjoyed a short visit from Mimi and Granddad; they tired her out!
* First trip out of state to Alabama this past Saturday to visit relatives. Emma loved to see Aunt Stacy, Mimi and Granddad.

Emma: Week 24

* Size 6 and 6 - 9 month clothes. size 2 diapers.
* Emma is an unsupported sitter!
* Introduced bananas this week; she liked it.
* Emma eats 3 oz at breakfast and 2 oz at dinner. Still bf every 2 - 3 hours, except at night.
* Full of smiles, giggles, and squeals, with the occasional cry or whine.
* Slept in the pack-n-play during nap time; the longest duration was 1 hour.
* Still teething but no signs of tooth poking through.
* At night, Emma is fine when she rolls over to tummy and now sleeps on her back, tummy, and side. She still rotates in the crib.

The Beach

Emma's first time at the beach was this past Sunday. We went during the hottest part of the day but there was a nice breeze on Tybee. I plopped her down in the sand and she enjoyed playing in the sand with her hands and feet. Greg and I then took her down to the water ...
