2013 Beach Trip (1 year 22 weeks)

Emma had a fantastic time at the beach with Mimi, Grandad, Aunt Stacy and many visitors! She had her own room (laundry room) to sleep in and did great. Mimi and Grandad would fight over whose turn it was to get her up/feed breakfast. Mama enjoyed this break. Emma also took great naps; the beach sure does wear you out. She had a bathing suit for every day of the week. Emma loved roaming around the beach: collecting shells, playing with sand, splashing in the tidal pools and swimming with Dada in the ocean. No fear, except around people she didn't know. Emma is timid/shy. We went for daily walks and Emma loved to hold Mimi and Grandad's hands while in the stroller. She also had her first treat at the Sugar Shack. My girl loves sweets!

(I need to remember for Emma's sibling that shoes are necessary for little feet!)

Emma: 1 year 21 weeks

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4.5 - 5.5 shoes.
* Loves to spin and fall down. Sounds like she says "dizzy"
* Big fan of stickers.
* We have a climber! Likes to climb up her big slide and go down the slide head first. Daredevil!
* Mama sweeps too often because Emma picked up the broom and knew exactly what to do. She also puts the dustpan on the floor so I can sweep into it. Emma picks ideas up so quickly now.
* I made Emma's July 4th dress; it turned out cute, although it was a bit big.
* Emma and Molly had such a great time chasing each other around on the 4th. Molly was chasing Emma and kept saying "I'm going to get you" and Emma collapsed with exhaustion.
* The fireworks were delayed a few days due to rain but we went with the Thompsons and both girls loved the fireworks. This was way past their bedtime too. Great job, girls!
* Went to Hibachi and Emma sat on Greg's lap during the fire. She was a little timid but never cried out.
* Temper tantrums and meltdowns.
* Evie pushing Emma on her princess car was so funny. Also likes to be pushed in her block wagon.
* Next week is the 2013 Beach Trip!

Emma: 1 year 20 weeks

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4.5 - 5.5 shoes.
* Knows how to tip up her bowl of cereal to drink the milk.
* Mama bought some beads/jewelry and they are a big hit. Emma & Evie love playing pretend and dress up.
* Coloring a little bit more but is still way too active to enjoy.
* After the splash park last week, where Emma had the paci the entire time, I decided to cut out the paci use except when she is in her crib during naps and bedtime.
* Not the biggest talker; new words will come when Emma decides it's time. I personally think that she is too busy/active to talk and wants to run around and learn games instead of new words.
* Hand motions for itsy bitsy spider, ring around the rosie.
* Wears sunglasses about 50% of the time when outside.
* Playing in the rain; loves to splash and jump on the storm drain.
* Cheesy grin but doesn't really smile for pictures.
* Went swimming at Evie's grandparents pool; Emma loved it. 

Emma: 1 year 19 weeks

* Size 12 & 18 month clothes. Size 4.5 - 5.5 shoes. Size 3 diapers.
* Likes to climb and stand on everything: kitchen table, ottoman and Mama/Dada's bed.
* Still loves to tumble.
* Plays pretend: serves tea and coffee; spreads out her picnic blanket and dishes for a picnic.
* Enjoys interactive books that has buttons & plays sounds.
* Went to the splash park in Athens this week. Emma was whiny the entire time and didn't enjoy herself. Mama was disappointed because it looked like something she would enjoy. We will have to try again!
* Rode in Evie's carseat; first time she was forward facing. I don't think it made much difference to Emma, she still fell asleep.
* Practices her jumping skills by jumping off the bottom of the slide onto the grass. 
* Mimi & Grandad came up for a visit and we went blueberry picking; Emma loves blueberries and now we have 10lbs in our freezer. Emma did a great job picking the blueberries and probably ate a pound while we were picking.
* Loves to blow bubbles in the water table and in the bath tub.

Emma: 1 Year 18 Weeks

* Size 3 diapers. Size 12 & 18 Month clothes. Size 4.5 - 5.5 shoes.
* 3rd Molar breaking through. 13th tooth.
* Routine of playing outside in the morning and inside in the afternoon. The outside fun usually consists of getting wet.
* Likes to wear Mama's sunglasses and also put the sunglasses on Mama.
* Prefers to drink from a cup & straw rather than her sippy cup.
* turned 16 months this week.
* Climbs onto the breakfast room chairs.
* Went to Bear Hollow Zoo this weekend in Athens. It is the perfect size for Emma and she enjoyed it, especially the Turkeys. We also went to Cali's for lunch. What a perfect Father's Day weekend for Greg!
* Says her friend's, Evie, name like "Edie" and gets so excited when I say that we are going to see her today. So fun to see these girls interact, even if Emma still likes to give Evie a running-tackling hug.
