Sadie: Week 20
Highlights:
- size 1 diapers. Size 0-3, 3, 3-6 clothes
- teething/chewing on everything.
- Starting to lay on her back more.
- Sadie had some bad news at her 4 month check up; well, Mommy thought it was bad! Apparently, Sadie's growth has been very slow in the past two months. Her length: 22 1/2 in (barely 5th percentile) - 1 inch growth in 2 months - and weight: 11lbs 3oz (5th percentile) - 6 oz growth in 2 months. The NP was concerned that she had dropped 2 + percentile grades in all levels (including head circumference). She wanted me to supplement with bottles during at least 3 feedings. She said about 2 - 3 ounces but more is fine. If Sadie spits up, then she's had too much. This stressed me out tremendously. Luckily, Sadie right on track with all other developments. We go back in 1 month for a weight check.
- Throughout the next few days, I went through all of the milk supply that I had saved up and we had to turn to some of the formula that I had samples of. I was getting stressed out due to the fact that I had been starving Sadie. I called the lactation consultant to see what I could do. She said to pump after every feeding. I was pumping less than 1 ounce, sometimes even a trace amount. It took over an hour to feed Sadie (nurse, pump, supplement).
- After several days of becoming stressed out, Greg said to take a break. We gave her formula while we were out & about; formula was so much easier/quicker than nursing. That night, I was engorged and pumped 6 ounces. I was so confused and visited that lactation consultant.
- Sadie got about 4.5 ounces while nursing at the hospital. This seemed like a decent amount and the LC thought that pumping paid off. She said to try a supplement (More Milk Plus) to get my supply up a bit more. Sadie had gained 1lb in 1 week. The supplement was expensive. Also said stress was part of reason why I wasn't pumping much.
- This was a rough patch for Mommy, but once I de-stressed, I started to pump more milk at the end of the day. Sadie gets about 3 oz of pumped milk and 6 - 9 oz of formula for supplement.

Another fun weekend in December
We visited Santa and there were no tears! Emma seemed to enjoy it and Sadie was indifferent. GG Sis and Papou came with us and GG Sis took a fun train ride with Emma through the mall.
We visited Macy's Pink Pig at Lenox. Emma enjoyed/loved it. Sadie was in total meltdown but immediately calmed down once she sat next to me in the ride. She was in awe of all the pink!

Sadie's Baptism
Sadie was baptized in the Catholic Church in a private ceremony. Sadie didn't cry and stared very intently at the Deacon as he spoke. We had a small, family reception at the house afterwards.

* Soothes herself back to sleep by sucking on fingers.

Busy Weekend!
We had a very busy and fun weekend! Saturday morning, we saw Santa Cow at CFA. The girls took pictures and Emma finally warmed up to him. The highlight of the weekend was next: meeting Anna and Elsa. Greg and I have a Frozen fanatic on our hands and, luckily, the two girls were in our small town, sitting for a meet and greet. Emma was able to talk to them and sing 'Let It Go.' After Anna and Elsa, Emma had her first haircut and then we had some pictures taken of the girls. .
Sunday, we took the girls to the zoo. It was a great day to be there as it was 75 degrees and the zoo was empty.

Christmas Parade
We met some friends at the Christmas parade in Athens and had a great time. I had Sadie sitting in my lap on the side of the street and a hippie from the parade said that she was tiny and I needed to wake her up in the middle of the night to feed her. Thanks buddy! Emma had a fantastic time with Naomi.
