Highlights:
- size 1 diapers. Size 0-3, 3, 3-6 clothes
- teething/chewing on everything.
- Starting to lay on her back more.
- Sadie had some bad news at her 4 month check up; well, Mommy thought it was bad! Apparently, Sadie's growth has been very slow in the past two months. Her length: 22 1/2 in (barely 5th percentile) - 1 inch growth in 2 months - and weight: 11lbs 3oz (5th percentile) - 6 oz growth in 2 months. The NP was concerned that she had dropped 2 + percentile grades in all levels (including head circumference). She wanted me to supplement with bottles during at least 3 feedings. She said about 2 - 3 ounces but more is fine. If Sadie spits up, then she's had too much. This stressed me out tremendously. Luckily, Sadie right on track with all other developments. We go back in 1 month for a weight check.
- Throughout the next few days, I went through all of the milk supply that I had saved up and we had to turn to some of the formula that I had samples of. I was getting stressed out due to the fact that I had been starving Sadie. I called the lactation consultant to see what I could do. She said to pump after every feeding. I was pumping less than 1 ounce, sometimes even a trace amount. It took over an hour to feed Sadie (nurse, pump, supplement).
- After several days of becoming stressed out, Greg said to take a break. We gave her formula while we were out & about; formula was so much easier/quicker than nursing. That night, I was engorged and pumped 6 ounces. I was so confused and visited that lactation consultant.
- Sadie got about 4.5 ounces while nursing at the hospital. This seemed like a decent amount and the LC thought that pumping paid off. She said to try a supplement (More Milk Plus) to get my supply up a bit more. Sadie had gained 1lb in 1 week. The supplement was expensive. Also said stress was part of reason why I wasn't pumping much.
- This was a rough patch for Mommy, but once I de-stressed, I started to pump more milk at the end of the day. Sadie gets about 3 oz of pumped milk and 6 - 9 oz of formula for supplement.
